For someone who routinely (and almost fanatically) doesn't watch network TV, I approach new shows with a great amount of cynicism. I knew from the previews that this wasn't going to be a wonderful show, but I'm shallow enough to admit I only followed it for Trucco, who's a really fine actor as well as a pretty face. I can't be disappointed to find myself disappointed, because my expectations weren't high to begin with. I happen to agree with your opinion on it whole-heartedly. The show is formulaic (I get most excited when Kate doesn't mediate something outside the office, shows you how low my expectations are to start with) and the situations, while not particularly far-fetched, become that way because Kate can't fail to muck it up in the most spectacular way
