We need to talk.

Lylith stared at her homework in contemplation for a good ten minutes before deciding she really didn't want to do it. She picked up her phone and contemplated calling Bartholomew, but then it occurred to her that seeing him would probably put mixed feelings in her head about Ethan. Joshua's cellphone jolted into life, vibrating with a loud growl. He glanced down at the number, told Jennifer he would brb on instant messenger, and slid the cellphone up as he put it to his ear.

"Yo. What's up, my main squeeze?" he said through a grin, obviously making an attempt to use shitty ghetto.

Lylith shook her head with a puzzled expression then rolled her eyes. "If you're not busy, I'd like it you could come over sometime today. I sort of... I need your advice. And I know I'm probably the first that's asked you for it, and for good reason, but I really do need to talk to you."

Her voice sounded sincere as she spoke. even she could pick up on her own confused and honest tone.

What she said should have miffed Joshua - honestly, he gave amazing advice, so what was with that 'I'm probably the first to ask you' shit? - but he wasn't too bothered because it was Lylith and he knew what she thought of him. The flirt, the whore, that guy who Bartholomew was occasionally caught necking. That guy.

"I don't have much going on today, just some shit for law school I need to glance over later, but that can wait." If his parents found out, oh well, they could sue his ass for all he cared. It'd be good practice for him to find legal ways to avoid their anger.

"When do you want me over? Your dad doesn't have a problem with me-" he was the clean cut one, the ambitious one that every father liked (until they caught him with his hand up their daughter's skirt) "-right?"

"Yeah, he doesn't mind you. If it's alright, I'd prefer you come over as soon as possible. I need to discuss things concerning Bartholomew. You're his best friend, so I figure you'd be the best one to talk to about it."

Her voice was unusually quiet compared to how she usually was. She still had Ethan on her mind, and talking about Bartholomew was already creating confusion in the back of her mind.
