It's an embarrassment of riches, isn't it? Or, a kind of torture. So much DT coming up in the next week, and so little time to watch. Because I've got three little boys, my tv watching time will be a bit limited, so I've been trying to decide which to watch first: the Christmas special or Hamlet.
Honestly, I'm back and forth on it. Truth is, I'll probably watch the Christmas special first--because I don't know exactly what will happen there, and in Hamlet, well, I've got a pretty good idea of how that's all playing out. Dead bodies everywhere. I'm assuming that's not the road RTD is taking on Christmas, as dark as his vision of humanity may be from time to time (Midnight, I'm looking at you.)
But I watched that clip of the "Am I a coward?" speech several times yesterday, and ooooh boy am I excited for this Hamlet. I'm often a bit wary of modern dress productions (much as I like Ethan Hawke, and I do, I don't see Hamlet wandering around a video store), but I think this one may really work for me. In part because (at least from what I see so far) it's modern but not see-you-on-the-street-today-with-a-cell-phone-in-one-hand-Starbucks-in-the-other modern. It's clearly modern but not so clearly today.
