As I'm off work for the moment, I seem to keep myself amused by various creative activities such as writing songs, thinking about writing songs, getting my lungs back into shape-type exercises, or just surfing the internet with a glazed expression and complete lack of movement to the point of cobwebs forming between my elbow and the nearest flat ( Read more... )

Ona related note, I've heard a few people also mention that internet use may be connected to a somewhat lessening of one's natural vocabulary. I think so many of us webbers are used to having a dictionary and thesaurus at our fingertips around the clock. Quite a few too many times recently, I have found myself sans-internet clicking my fingers in the middle of a person-to-person conversation and going "oooh, ooh, what was that thing called", and obviously feeling like a fool, yo. Oh great. You REALLY know how to make my day - the interwebz reduces our vocabulary? HOW CAN I GET BETTER NOW????

Actually, this makes me think of the Transformers movie from 2007. Shia Lewhatever asks Optimus Prime, upon first meeting him, how he learned to speak English, and he replies "The Internet."

This raises the hilarious notion that advanced robotic beings might consider Lolspeak to be common useage of English:
"Is can be tranformings time nao"
*clank clonk clunk*
"O hai! ZAP! You is dedded!"
*facepalm*
