I want to be voted as: Doesn't matter.
BASICS
Name: Vanessa. Nessa. Nessy. Ness.
Gender: Female.
Date of birth: 06/20/1991
Likes: Studying languages(English, French, German, Japanese), math, science, history and prehistory, music(drumming and guitar), green tea, supporting small-scale organic farming, listening to lots of different music, reading books, enjoying the rain and most importantly, being with family/friends. That's pretty common. I also like raccoons, porcupines, miso soup, parks, and when my hair is nice! I like a lot of things.
Dislikes: Being unprepared, crowded places, destruction, paranoia, loneliness, humidity, apathy, inaction and losing things.
Describe yourself in 5 words:
Curious
Pensive
Loyal
Skeptical
Forlorn
THIS OR THAT
(Please provide a short explanation as well)
Optimistic or pessimistic? I'm more optimistic, but unfortunately I don’t know if it’s real. I think it might just be a way for me to deny my suspicions, and an attempt to ignite optimism in others. If someone else says it, then I can’t write it off as paranoia anymore, which can be helpful and unnerving at the same time.
Leader or follower? I prefer to lead, but only in conditions where it's feasible. I have no problem following, unless the leader is not leading me where I want to go, har har har. Trust is the key issue here. I have a hard time trusting people, so I am never one to follow blindly.
Introvert or extrovert? I’m more of an introvert. I find socializing exhausts me, but I do have a habit of talking a lot if I'm nervous or if its about something I know a lot about or that interests me. Or if I've had too much caffeine.
Mature or immature? Maturing. I’m still growing up. I am aware of my behavior and way of thinking, and how it has changed the past few years. The only thing that really changes me is an addition of knowledge and of awareness. The tendency has always been to react based on my emotions. I still do that most of the time, unfortunately.
Violent or peaceful? I try to be as peaceful as possible. Sometimes that results in me getting trampled over, because I really dislike confrontation. Other times I will just zone out and become a robot. I end up falling apart, and usually my violence is directed at myself or some inanimate object. Although, when I was a child I was not in tune with alternate forms of aggression and I punched a girl in the nose once. I still kind of suck at alternate forms of aggression, but I'm much more aware of them now.
Selfish or altruistic? Definitely selfish. I might be a lot less selfish than most people, but that’s not really an excuse. I don’t fit the bill for altruistic.
Rude or polite? Manners are quite important to me. I just can’t stand rudeness. I'm quite shy, so I can seem standoffish, but I try to remember to stress my sincerity(still not sure how I'm supposed to do that). I have been intentionally rude a few times, but I was just really angry. I can be very blunt, so sometimes I say things and I forget that it could be taken the wrong way. In fact, I worry far too much about offending or making people uncomfortable. I hold honesty above tact though, for sure.
Eat here or take away? I don’t really go to restaurants, I usually make my own food, but I'll say eat there because it's part of the experience I guess.
MISC.
What do you consider to be your one very best trait and why? Honesty. It's not easy for me to always tell the truth, and I've lied more times then I could ever count, but I understand how important honesty is and I'm aware that it may be the MOST important thing I can adhere to.
And what do you think is your worst? Intuition. I've always felt like I had a good sixth sense, and I've been told I'm very intuitive, but I still think that it gets in the way far more then it helps. I never know when to listen to it. I think most times I should listen to it, because it's kind of an instinct that's there for a reason. I struggle with it though.
I just realized that my issue might be my compulsion to over-analyze everything more than my so-called intuition.
If you could change one thing about yourself or your life, what would it be? This type of question always pisses me off, because it's not even hypothetical. You can either change things or you can't. I guess… if this is like my "one wish", I'd want my Mom and Grandma to be truly happy for the rest of their lives. I would give anything for that.
If you could be any inanimate object, what would you be and why? Something antique. A cup, a book, a mirror, it doesn't matter, as long as it meant something to someone and was well looked after. I'm not getting this question am I? The object is supposed to reflect something about us? Then I'd be a shoe.
What element do you most identify with and why? I'm assuming you're referring to the four ancient elements, earth, air, water, and fire. I'll say air, because I'm interested in flying(hand-gliding), birds, wind and other sky-related things. I think air is also pretty influential, at least with fire and water. Air has the ability to work with other elements.
LOST
Providing food and water is not an issue, which three items would you want to have with you on the island? Please elaborate.
Oh geez...
1. Proper clothes and footwear. That's pretty essential.
2. A multi-use knife. Among other things I would use it to mark the trees, so that we would know "where" we were when we venture out into the heart of darkness. They would have a letter and a number, A1 could be near the center of the camp, and C42 might be towards the caves. For nail clipping too.
3. At least one picture of someone I love.
Which Lost character do you personally think is most suited to be everyone’s leader and why?
Hurley and Ben. Hurley is democratic and non-violent. Not to mention he's shown that he can be very influential. I think Ben, despite his bout of evil, did show compassion and that he was probably a good leader in the beginning. Almost all the main characters had good qualities and most showed an ability to lead at one point or another, but I mention these two because they were both very resilient… and they are hilarious together.
Would YOU accept this position? Why? Why not?
I can't imagine I would be asked to, and I might refuse initially. I suppose I would have to try. I know that I can lead a group to accomplish a task well, but I might come across as a little severe. I do prefer to hear people's opinions though, it's indifference that annoys me the most.
Which Lost character do you least identify with and why?
Locke. I can't relate to him. I appreciate his character, but apart from finding the island very mysterious and possibly a lovely place to live if you can get around the creepy unexplainable phenomena, we wouldn't agree on much. I wouldn't hunt with him. I wouldn't have abandoned the rest of the survivors to go investigate a hatch in the ground, because I felt that it was my destiny. I would have gone back later, but first things first! There's a bunch of other reasons I can't see island-Locke and me being best buds, but hopefully you get the picture by now.
Anything else you would like to add?
Do you guys take into account the flash sideways? Because some characters were VERY different.
