Memory Meme

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Ah. Valentine. Those were good times.

At one of the last games you ran at Dragon Con, you were playing Malkav. You just seemed so damned unhappy, I remember not being able to resist trying to cheer you up a bit... And trying, and trying, and trying. This was long before I'd properly met you enough to know that this was more than futile.

As I finally started to give up, you looked up and winked, and then instantly went back to sulking. In that moment, I decided you were THE coolest man on earth. Imagine my surprise at the end of the weekend when you yelled through my car window as we were pulling out of the Hyatt parking lot to say that you had enjoyed meeting me (holy cow the guy who runs everything remembered my freaking name!). It was the best moment of my con weekend, and I've been larping ever since.

Thanks! I am sure that I have since shattered that 'coolest man on earth' impression since then - but it is nice of you to say so.

You do realize that it was Malkav winking at you - showing you that the whole unhappy business was either part of his insanity or just a show. Of course, was he really insane? Or did he have a plan? The world may never know.

This is the first time I've responded to this meme. I think that makes a good statement that I have so many delightful memories of you.

My favorites are as follows:

1) You standing in that little cabin of ours at the bottom of Area 1 at AH Stephens state park. I asked you something like I hoped you weren't offended that we were cursing so much. You stood there bristling with your many ear piercings, wearing your Chuck Taylors, and just said, "Trace... Trace... I'm wearing a 'Rude Boy' T-shirt. You're okay."

2) The ill-fated Drax Darshiva weekend circa 1997, maybe? Sitting in another cabin at AHS, this time in Area 3, while God Knows WhatTM was being conducted by Plot outside with a piece of string. You sitting there chanting, "Geigh geigh geigh geigh" to the tune of "Spam Spam Spam Spam" to cheer the rest of us up ( ... )

Sadly, I no longer have the "Rude Boy" tshirt.

You know, I used the same voice for that skull as for the demi liche on a stick. Somehow all disembodied skulls have the same voice in my world.

It's okay, really. I think it all comes from the disembodied skull that's in all of us!

I remember you on the construction site furious that we called you a geek. 'I WORKED AT A CIRCUS! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS!'

don't feel like posting this in my blog. sorry.

so.many.memories.

right now what's comin' to mind is me trying to figure out ways for the wraiths in year 1 of the DraconCon group to get you to laugh. i remember that we did, and not in that "oh god, these kids are driving me crazy." way either -- at least, i don't think so.

What did you guys do that particular year? I claim complete and utter sleep deprivation for the 1st year as my reason for not remembering.

Way too many to mention, most of them from DragonCon or NERO.

Okay that is actually easy. Playing opposite you during the "In the Dark" game in the loft. That was one intense evening.

Thanks. I think that running was one of the best times I ran that game. Glad to know that was so memorable.
