Queen astra2104

The first night after the crash is spent learning his new surroundings. He wasn't the type that liked to be surprised, and a drop out of a falling airplane had surprised him more than enough for a lifetime. (Because unlike some he was only graced with the one.)

Water was abundant when he moved away from the beach. Shade was important. New sights, sounds, tastes and scents assaulted the senses at a rate almost faster than he could categorize them.

The mercurial change in weather was bothersome to his aching joints but that was a mild inconvenience. Overall he was pleased with his new home. After all - a tropical island, even a disturbing - off putting - slightly sinister - tropical island in the middle of nowhere simply had to be better than either Los Angeles or Manhattan.

When he comes to a secluded little lagoon it is just right for a drink and a quick swim to cool down. The bones in the small body of water don't bother him but they do remind him that he should head back to the beach. He was curious what happend to the others. What they would do in their new home. Who would adjust? Who would adapt? And ultimately who would survive?

Passing through the jungle he's careful to tread softly. Not out of fear of course for he is fearless, but because he prefers to move in stealth, work in silence and walk softly.

Halfway to the beach he can see one of them lying on the ground, one eye open while the rest of him struggles to comprehend what has happened. At first glance he's rather unassuming but he knows better than to judge based on appearances. No, the man in the jungle may look unassuming but he could possibly threaten his own place as leader. . . As ruler.

He could finish the stranger off then and there in the jungle. No one would ever have to know. But instead he's willing to bide his time. Watch. Wait. Learn. The Stranger will learn soon enough that this is HIS island and the ones on the beach are HIS minions. After all - there can be only one.

So he waits until he hears the undeniable call before loping down to the beach. After being reunited with his boy he continues to manipulate the survivors in subtle yet effective ways. Their food rations are short and yet none can resist the awesome power of 'sad eyes'. They believe water to be scarce and yet he drinks from a cup. These small steps will eventually ensure his dominion over them.

Vincent is, after all - a very good dog.
