I read this a few days ago, and I've been trying to write a review ever since, but nothing I've come up with seems adequate. This pretty much the most perfect story anyone could have written for me based on the prompts I gave. Love the Kate/Claire, the kiss in the rain was perfect, but I think my favorite parts are Claire slowing going crazy, which I could just see playing out right before my eyes, and the ending with Aaron. I've never read The Golden Compass, but in your description of itm it seems like the perfect book for Aaron to read.

Some of my favorite lines:

Claire looks down at her hands, torn and bloody, then back to her lopsided hut. It looks like it might topple in the next gust of wind.

He left her to stumble through all the tasks the other survivors had done around her for months. All the jobs that they had spared here, because she was the poor pregnant girl.

She looks up to catch a grin that is all bamboo shoots and salt spray, and a lopsided smile tugs at her mouth like a half remembered instinct. Love the little ( ... )

I'm so glad that you liked it! Your prompts were a lot of fun to work with! :)

I wondered about not sticking the Aaron part in, but once I thought of him reading those books I couldn't quite get it out of my head.

Would it be ok with you if I posted a link to this? Totally understand if you'd rather I didn't. :)
