Summary: DJ Boys first Valentine's Day together
Notes: For
twofourteen on the occasion of her birthday. I promised to deliver a little something after cutting off an earlier EP ficlet before the good stuff. So this EP is late, but hopefully it's worth it. I ended up scrapping the entire first one and wrote this in one evening. Anyway, DJ boys from
To The Beat of Our Noisy Hearts on Valentine's Day. Happy Birthday, darlin'.
Jensen heard the doorknob twist moments before the door was pushed open.
"Jen?"
"In here!" Jensen brushed his hands off on his pants and moved to the table. He was lighting the last candle when he felt Jared stop just inside the entryway.
"Wow. So I guess this is why you wanted me to get all fancy?"
Jensen had spent all afternoon making sure everything was just right. The table was set, food was ready, candles placed carefully in the middle. But there was something he was forgetting. Something important.
"Yep. Question is did you listen and-" Candle lit, Jensen stepped back and turned to face his boyfriend. He felt his breath catch when he finally took a moment to look over at him. Jared was gorgeous, stunning in his black slacks and a blue button-up that was casual, yet still dressed up. the top two buttons were left open, golden skin showing through. "Fuck."
Jared shifted his weight and ducked his head, obviously embarrassed as he ran his hand through his dark, shaggy hair. His gaze returned to Jensen's, his eyes bright in the soft candlelight, his cheeks flushed a pale pink. "I hope this meets your specifications," he waved his hand through the air, motioning at his clothes. "Didn't really have time to shave, though."
Jensen moved forward and lifted his hand to brush his thumb along Jared's stubbled jaw, his other hand settling on Jared's hip. "You look amazing."
Jared leaned in and pressed their lips together, his hand settling on the small of Jensen's back, pulling him closer. Jensen groaned as Jared's tongue slipped past his lips and slid against his own. His hand slid from Jared's jaw to the back of his neck as he tilted his head back to get a better angle.
Kissing Jared still took his breath away. It always had and he hoped it always would.
"So you got my message," Jensen murmured against Jared's lips before he pulled back, oxygen becoming an issue.
A smile stretched across Jared's face, showing off his dimples. "If by message, you mean a bag of candy hearts with a note that said, and I quote, 'Make yourself pretty. And I mean church pretty, and not holy jeans, either.'" He paused and shook his head, trying not to laugh but failing miserably. "Then yeah, I got your message."
"The candy was just to sweeten the deal, you know." Jensen motioned Jared towards the table as he turned to the cabinet and pulled out a couple of glasses. "Wasn't sure if you even owned anything other than t-shirts and jeans."
"Good thing you thought to include the sugar, then. Otherwise, I would've had to turn you down to spend some time with my other boyfriend."
"Lucky I thought ahead, then." Jensen tossed a soft smile over his shoulder as he dug through the drawer for the corkscrew. He fumbled with the bottle of wine when he felt Jared's strong arms wrap around his waist from behind.
Jared nuzzled his neck, his warm breath causing Jensen to shiver as it blew warm against his ear. "Seriously, though, what's the occasion?"
Jensen twisted around in Jared's arms until they were facing each other, his back pressed into the counter behind him. He quirked an eyebrow. "Come on, now. You're a smart boy. I'm sure you can figure it out."
"Smartass." Jared rolled his eyes. "I know it's Valentine's Day. Kind of hard to avoid all those flowers and jewelry commercials at work, especially seeing as how I sell the ad space." Jared shrugged one of his shoulders. "Just didn't think you'd really be into the whole thing."
Jensen could feel his face heat up as he pressed one hand to Jared's chest and gently pushed him back so he could open the wine. "Well, you're a giant sap so I figured-"
"Hey wait a minute. I'm a giant sap?" Jared laughed as he moved to the other side of the counter so he could look at Jensen face-to-face again. "Need I remind you about that time this summer when you-"
"Yeah, yeah," Jensen interrupted, his lips tilting up in a smile. "We can argue over who's girlier another day." He pointed at the chair. "Sit."
Jared did as he was told and Jensen filled the glasses with wine. "I just thought it would be nice to do something special for our first Valentine's together."
Jared's hand settled warm and heavy over his as he set the glass of wine down in front of him. "It is." When Jensen met his eyes, Jared smiled, soft and intimate. "It's perfect, Jen. Just you and me."
Jensen blushed again and Jared's grin grew wider. "And you even broke out the good china!" He motioned at the table, the only unchipped dishes Jensen and Mike owned piled high with food.
"Shut up and eat your dinner." Jensen laughed. He had just sat down when he suddenly remembered what he'd forgotten and bounced back up again. "Shit."
"What?" Jared tilted his head to the side, questions in his eyes.
"Just forgot-" Jensen ran into the next room and turned on the stereo. He turned the knob on the volume, praying he wasn't too late. Music filled the air, a song that Jensen was too nervous to identify but not the one he was expecting. He breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good now?" Jared asked as Jensen slid back into his seat.
Jensen nodded and took a deep breath. He sipped some wine and shared a smile with his boyfriend.
Jared took a bite of his tortellini and moaned. "God, this is good." He paused and looked at the table, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You know, this reminds me of our first date."
"That was the plan," Jensen took a bite of his own dish, his attention half on Jared and half on what was playing on the radio. The song was drawing to a close and Jensen hoped his timing had been right.
"So, as you all know, theme music is more Jared's thing than mine, but tonight, I'm making an exception." Mike's voice sounded out clear and strong through the speakers.
Jared frowned and glanced up at Jensen. "We really need Mike to share this night with us?"
"Just listen," Jensen grumbled good-naturedly, focusing on his plate.
"As you all know, my best buddy Jensen met the man of his dreams right on this very show, our very own Jared Padalecki. It's been almost a year now, but they're stronger than ever. So when Jensen asked me if I could help him out with a little gift for Jared, I couldn't exactly say no, now could I?"
Jensen watched Jared through lowered eyes, watched his expression flash from amused to confused to something softer in the span of a few short seconds.
"Jensen compiled a little playlist for his guy but first, a note. To Jared, from Jensen. With Love." Mike crooned and Jensen rolled his eyes. He was going to kill Mike. Later. Hopefully much, much later.
Jared had set his silverware down on the table once Mike mentioned his name, his attention focused solely on the words filtering across the airwaves.
"I'm not always the best with words and sometimes, I know I have trouble saying what you mean to me. But this past year has been one of the best years of my life and I know it's because of you. I'm sure you're calling me a girl right now, if you haven't already said it tonight at one point or another. But I wanted to do something for you, something I know you would understand and appreciate. Maybe the music can say the words that trip me up." Mike paused, causing silence to fill the air. "Now say it with me...awwww."
Jensen shook his head. He really was going to kill Mike. Slowly. Painfully.
Music filled the air and Jensen bit his lip. He finally lifted his gaze to meet Jared's.
Jared stared back at him, eyes wide. "You made me a mix? And you're having Mike make it public?" His lips tilted up in a small smile as Jensen nodded. "God, Jen, that's just-"
He stood up suddenly, his chair scraping across the floor. Jensen did the same, only slower, a little unsure.
Jared moved around the table and grabbed Jensen's face with both hands, tugging him closer and crushing their mouths together. Jensen's hands scrabbled for purchase, finally fisting in the collar of Jared's shirt.
"God, Jen-" Jared murmured against his lips. "Upstairs. Now."
Jensen pulled back and inhaled sharply. "But dinner-"
"Can wait-" Jared growled.
"But I-" Jensen wasn't sure why he was arguing when all he wanted was Jared's mouth on his again, his large hands tracing paths across his skin.
"Did a great job ordering from Cicero's."
Jensen tried to look offended, but could only chuckle. "Saw the bags in the trash, didn't you?"
"Yup. Besides, you can't cook for crap." Jared smiled and began to back away towards the stairs, pulling Jensen with him. "It's the thought that counts, anyway."
Jared stopped suddenly, a few feet from the stairs, head tilted as he listened to the song that was playing.
Jensen brushed his hands along Jared's chest, feeling restless. He wanted to feel Jared, all of him with nothing between them.
He could tell the exact moment Jared really listened to the lyrics, understood their meaning. His lips crashed back against Jensen's and he spun them around, moving forward once again.
And in this world where nothing else is true/ Here I am, still tangled up in you.
Jensen felt the stairs against his heels and he slowly started to climb backwards, unwilling to pull his mouth away from Jared's. He quickly pulled at Jared's shirt, trembling fingers fumbling with the tiny buttons. He couldn't focus on anything beyond the feel of Jared pressed against him, the feel of Jared's hands at his waist as he worked to get Jensen's slacks open.
Halfway up, Jensen tripped. He fell backwards, landing with a heavy thud on the steps, pulling Jared down on top of him. He pushed Jared's shirt off of his broad shoulders, his hands tracing the smooth muscle as it was revealed.
Jared kneeled on the step and tugged at Jensen's slacks as he pressed his mouth against the underside of Jensen's jaw. Jensen lifted his hips and Jared pulled off his pants and boxer briefs with one swift yank.
"Jay, the bedroom-" Jensen panted, tilting his head back to allow Jared better access.
"Too far-" Jared traced a path across Jensen's collarbone, pausing to suck and bite at the base of his neck before kissing him on the mouth once again. Jared's warm palm closed around his cock and Jensen's back arched.
The stair behind him pressed painfully into his shoulder blades, but Jensen didn't care. All he cared about was Jared's mouth, hot and wet against his own, and the feel of Jared's hand wrapped around him, grip firm as his hips thrust forward.
Jensen was vaguely aware of the song changing on the radio. He knew Jared probably wouldn't notice, the time and effort that went into choosing the perfect music pushed aside by the overwhelming need to touch, to have, to possess. But he knew the sentiment was understood.
I'd rather be anywhere but here without you.
Jared pulled his mouth away from Jensen's and sat back, weight on his heels, balancing on the stairs. His hand kept a steady pace of pull, twist, pull as he stared into Jensen's eyes. His free hand found Jensen's as he tangled their fingers together.
Jensen was close. He could feel the pressure building low in his gut. But before he could come, Jared's hand stopped, his hand tight around the base of Jensen's cock.
Jensen whimpered and Jared smirked. Then he leaned forward, bending at the waist and sucking Jensen down. Jensen's hips thrust forward, his grip on Jared's hand tightening. Jared's tongue traced the length of his cock before he sucked hard, cheeks hollow.
There was no finesse. It was messy and fast and utterly perfect and Jensen came with a shout, his free hand tangling in Jared's hair.
Jensen tugged Jared up his body until their lips met. He could taste himself on Jared's tongue and the thought made him moan.
Things were a bit hazy. Jensen wasn't sure when Jared lost his pants, but as they kissed, he could feel Jared's hard length rubbing against the hollow groove of his hip as Jared rocked back and forth. Jared lifted their joined hands above Jensen's head, pressing them into the carpet on the landing as his hips continued to thrust.
"Come on, baby," Jensen encouraged as Jared pressed his face into Jensen's neck, panting hard. "Come for me, Jay."
A couple more thrusts and Jared was coming with a low growl. Jensen could feel the burn of Jared's stubble as it scraped across his sensitive skin and he wanted more. He wanted everything Jared had to give him.
But first, he wanted off the stairs. Jared had stopped moving, his breathing warm against Jensen's ear, his body a heavy weight on top of him.
"Jay," Jensen moaned. "You need to move."
"Don't wanna." Jared mumbled.
"Well, you have to," Jensen pushed at Jared's shoulder. "The stair's digging into my back. And I think I got carpet burn. Again."
Jared gave a weary chuckle. "Sorry." He released his grip on Jensen's hand and pushed himself back until he rolled up onto his feet. He held a hand out to Jensen and pulled him up before pressing a gentle kiss to Jensen's lips.
Jensen stared into Jared's eyes and saw everything he needed shining back at him. All of Jared's love, his warmth, his need, all of it for him. Jared's hands were still in motion, running up and down Jensen's sides. The frantic need had settled into something softer but no less powerful.
"Come on," Jensen grabbed Jared's hand and pulled him along behind him. "I still have plans for you and there's a bed just calling our names."
Jared laughed and tugged on Jensen's hand, holding him still until his back was flush with Jared's chest, his arms wrapped around Jensen from behind. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss just under Jensen's ear. "Best Valentine's day ever."
"Damn straight it is." Jensen couldn't keep the smile from his face as he wrapped his hands around Jared's arms and moved them into the bedroom, his chest tight with emotion. He pulled Jared around and pushed him down on the bed, taking the time to let his eyes trace the miles of golden skin before him. This was his. All of Jared, everything he was, was Jensen's. Just like all of Jensen was Jared's.
That thought wasn't as scary as it used to be.
Jared's lips tilted up in an amused half-smile. "You planning on staring at me all night or do you have something else in mind?" He lifted his hand to Jensen's face, his thumb tracing Jensen's jaw with a gentle caress.
No more crying, no more fear/ You showed me how to love again.
Jensen just shook his head, suddenly overwhelmed with emotion. He knelt on the bed and leaned forward, holding steady above Jared as he stared down at the man underneath him. He dropped to his elbows and pressed their lips together, trying to put his every thought and emotion into the kiss, everything he couldn't say right now with everything all tangled up inside him.
I'm still tangled up in you.
And since this is an EP, have some music!
