Question for you dog owners

So I just have a quick question for those of you who have dogs and work full-time. Do you use a crate for your pup during the day? Do you hire someone to come let him/her out during the day? Do you run home during a lunch break? I am asking because I will probably be adopting a 7 month maltipoo on Tuesday. She has been crate-trained and would ( Read more... )

I didn't crate either of my dogs. I just let them out last thing before I left, and then first thing when I got home. They were fine. The only time I ever, ever had an issue was when Max would occasionally get sick -- which isn't his fault, really. But, for the most part, they just stayed inside all day while I was working and it was no issue.

First, yay, puppy! LOL. :D

Anyway, while I no longer have a dog since she stayed with my old roommate from college, we always kept her in the crate for the day while we went to classes and/or work and whoever got home first would let her out. In the mornings, we'd let her out of her crate and send her out in the back so she could run around for a bit and then once we were mostly ready, we'd call her back in so she could eat. Then we'd let her back out so she could pee or whatever one more time (and I usually used that time to do last minute stuff or finish getting ready) and then once we let her back inside, we'd put her back in the crate. (Despite her best efforts to sneak passed us and head for the couch, lol.) Whoever got home first would let her out and send her straight outside and we just let her run around and do her thing until she wanted to come back inside and then we'd feed her. Usually, we'd end up feeding her between 5:30-6:00, though there were the rare times where we'd get home a bit later than usual.

I hope that
