Sydney gott the job ... and the return of Sepsis, or so we think.

Jun 17, 2006 12:53

So yesterday (Friday) started out like any other day. Inn the afternoon we packed the whole family in the car. Sydney had a second interview with PetSmart and I ran chores with the kids while she was in the interview. Sydney did very well and she got the job. They are opening a new store in Ann Arbor and Sydney starts in July.

On the way home we hit a whole bunch of garage sales. We did not get much, but it is always fun to go and get books for the kids and other junk for around a dollar.

Just as we got home, Emily was impressing us with a bunch of crawling! Sydney flushed Emily's Broviac (a line to the heart and bloodstream) with Heparin, like we have done everyday since she got her port in December. A few minutes later she was acting really funny and started getting warm. She started crying inconsolably and started breathing funny. This of course was at 4:45pm. We called the pediatrician and as I was on the phone with them Emily threw up, but not blood.

We decided to take her to the Emergency Room and packed all the kids up again. I dropped Sydney and Emily at the hospital and I went to my mothers to drop off Summer and Abigail and then drove back to the ER. When Emily got to the ER, she had a 104 temp her heart rate was in the 220's, she looked very pale and she was barely breathing. They gave her a dose of Tylenol and some IV fluids which eventually got her levels all down to normal levels. They put her on powerful antibiotics and admitted her for treatment. We are actually in the same room we were in last time.

They suspect it is Sepsis, which she had back in December. They also think that she might have gotten an infection in her Broviac. However, we arte still waiting for final test results come in to know. We have no idea how long she will have to be in the hospital and there is a number of treatments they they may choose. Most likely will be another round of antibiotics.

I will keep you all updated.
