So i just finished reading this book on Vipassana Meditation called Mindfulness in Plain English. It is all about insight meditation which has been a pretty great thing for me over the past few weeks. I've read on meditation; about blocking out all the senses and such...but to meditate fully, at least, according to my source, it's that, plus blocking out your own thoughts...or I guess, if you think to yourself, block that out. Complete sensorial and mental calmness...mmmm

That's what i understand as well, but there are so many different types and i'm hardly schooled in any of them =(

if you're able to successfully free yourself of thoughts, even for a minute, it'll be some of the most fulfilling moments of your life. That's why I do yoga. It's really the only time I can not think because I'm so immersed in the moment, which really is one of my goals.

My mom did a silent Vipassana retreat for 10 days and came back much happier and relaxed. It was pretty rigorous (little sleep, fewer meals, absolute silence, sitting most of the day, etc.) to the point where people were even leaving and dropping out. But she felt that it was very worthwhile. Meditation is awesome.
