Sara,

this is totally off subject, but we drove through your part of the country on our cross country trip...we went through Madison, WI and then across the rest of the state at about the same latitude (we drove across HWY 90). You sure do live in a pretty area - I think that is about where you live, yes?

Now we live in Washington State - Olympia area...talk about pretty!!! You really need to visit the Pacific Northwest if you haven't already.

Okay...ttyl

I've had good friends in Portland for years and I finally got to go out for a visit last year. Indeed, the PNW is stunning, esp for us midwesterners who don't get to see a lot of mountains. Or, uh, any. We have our share of cool geography due to glaciers, but nothing like y'all have up there.

Enjoy your Independence day...my understanding is that fireworks are virtually unregulated in WA! I was out on the river between OR and WA last 4th and it was hard to tell when the "official" fireworks stopped and the "amateur" fireworks began.

Out here in the wild, wild west we take our independence seriously and like to celebrate it...

There's always something to do when you have a house. That's part of the fun actually.
I love this Farm Share thing.

Garlic... chives? :) Yums on baked potatoes.

Don't let the apparent lack of progress on house-things get you down. A house is pretty much: a list of to-do's everywhere you look. Looking back over what you've done over the past month is where you sit and think "holy cow, I did -all- of that?!?". Welcome to home ownership!

The to-do list just gets bigger you've got garden-able space, too.

A garage is a place where to-do's go to breed out of control. ;-)

Yeah, well the fact our garage is falling over makes it a near impossible place for to-dos to breed, though there is a bunch of stuff in there we need to take to the dump, and my half painted dresser is in there too.... so I guess it is breeding a bit.
