Sadly, neither Democrats nor Republicans like the idea of being held accountable, one of the reasons this has completely stalled. The power members of either party have far more in common with each other than they do with us.

The UK had this problem about 100 years ago with MI5, MI6, and naval intelligence; with the formation of GCHQ as the result. What was that proverb about learning from others?
I don't see how this is a "war crime". Congress passed a bill, W exercised his right to veto it, and now Congress can, if they wish, override the veto. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?
