REM are one of my favs (michael is my desktop wallpaper)
reckoning and monster are my fav albums.
though it helps some what that these days Michael has stopped mumbling his lyrics.
i think they have pretty much always alinged themselves to political lyrics and leanings.
though i still like their latter albums, there are some hidden gems that were never relased as singles, so for the most people dont know about them much.

REM is a very interesting band, and I agree they have managed not to become totally swallowed by the mainstream. They were the first band I saw in concert.My first kiss was during an REM song in a friend's basement.
Their videos are great as well.

I hate Danity Kane and I just read them in your lj for the first time.

I only know the name Danity Kane because shosh and i watched the making of the video for thier song.
it was like watch a car accident go on for 30 minutes.
