I don't know what's happened with Haldir. We've managed to move him from the corridor into an empty bedroom, and I'm sitting with him now, but there's no response from him. He just shakes and stares blankly ahead of him

*Eomer stops by, sits down next to Lothiriel, and offers her a comforting one-armed squeeze*
He'll be fine. He's strong -- trust me. His light hasn't gone out. He just needs time. What happened...I don't understand. I can't imagine why she left him alive...
...? You don't know yet? Um. I think you need to see what caused this. In the room he and Faramir were sharing. Would you like me to watch over him while you go look? Don't go in. Just...look.
A deep abiding cold hard terror. The feeling that no matter what, he would never be safe from Ungoliant. Never be safe from her coming at her own will to take him. This time, to kill him utterly. Kill all the people he cared about. No peace

Looking doubtfully at her husband, Lothiriel relinquished her place by Haldir's side to Eomer and left the room quietly. Her husband listened carefully to the other room's door open and the silence that followed. He heard it shut quietly, but his wife did not return immediately.
It was another five minutes before Lothiriel came back in and sat down opposite Haldir on the bed. She grasped the elf's hand and rested her other hand on his hair, ignoring the fact that he was lost in his own world.
"Haldir, we WON'T let her get you," she said quietly. Beside her, Haldir still trembled.
Lothiriel looked over at Eomer.
"What can we do? We can't let this continue." She paused. "Could... could Boromir help?"
Eomer tilted his head thoughtfully, then laid his hand on top of Lothiriel's. "I think Faramir is the only person who can help him right now, but...Boromir is Faramir's strength." He leaned forward and kissed his wife on the forehead, breathing in the familiar scent of her hair. Times like this reminded him how much he DID care about her, despite all the fights and misunderstandings. "Good idea. I'll send for him. And Isildur should be alerted, too."
Ten minutes later two of Roac's kin were winging south with messages gripped firmly in claw.

You're in Rohan. Horse tranquilizers. Couple dozen? That's enough to keep an oliphaunt from shaking.

If he won't take 'em on his own, there's always the DA strudel recipe.
