An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude rocked Oklahoma today, and was felt all over the midwest. All the way up here in quake-proof Kansas, we stared at the walls and each other as buildings shook around us. Earthquake -- yetch. We've had a few small ones here in Maine over the years -- they make the critters do funny things. Glad to hear you and kitty clan are all right.

Those quantum singularities are such an inconvenience - so glad you got a mild shaking instead, and nobody is hiding under the bed for a week (that's where my kittenses would be).

The interesting thing about earthquakes is that most of them are pretty harmless. Face it, if they were all opening up singularities nobody would continue to live in California. Most quakes under 5 on the Richter scale we just listen to the windows rattle. :) The first time is really scary though.

I wondered what some of y'all in nonshakeland would be thinking of it... I've been in a whopper (Loma Prieta) and it was a wild ride but I don't really mind little ones like that, though it's always a bit surreal and makes you feel very small when something as big as the *ground* is moving you around.
