yknow, i agree with you. if they are going to follow anything, they should be following it wholeheartedly.
i dont think many spiritual teachers would advocate that living on the street, begging for money b.s. because we are taught to continue functioning within society, but to be mindful while we are performing our daily routines.
it would be amazing to be able to live in a monastery good lord i cant spell right now, but the reality is that most of us cannot afford that luxury. and it really is a luxury...think about all the peaceful people youd get to live with and all the idiots you could leave behind!
i really do hate the hype and fad-ness of all these eastern religions. it sickens me when people are ill informed about anything.

I am reading Michael Shermer's book called HOW WE BELIEVE right now..it is amazingly good and speaks to the issue of why and how we believe in God(s)...i use we as a mass pronoun, however i don't subscribe to any of that stuff...my point, such that i had one, is that the people on that show claim to be anarchists, yet want universal healthcare, free schooling and a subsidized life...seems to me the positions contradict....as far as living with the monks go...well i dunno if i would enjoy that...unless i was in a coed dorm...
