have you read all the books in LOTR? ; Yes I have. I started reading them in the 4th grade, right after I finished the Hobbit. That's when the addiction began; I just couldn't put them down. The detail and elaboration is extraordinary and entricate. It leaves no doubt in your mind as to how something looks or how it's supposed to be.

favorite LOTR book and why ; Return of the King. It brings a close to what happens in Middle Earth and what is to become of it all. It just has this great sense of closure to it all, and you really get to see how the characters develop. Sure, all the characters develop throughout the story, but Return of the King is where many of them shine and really prove themselves. Sam proves to be the unsung hero, Eowyn proves to be brave and loving, Frodo proves he does have the power get rid of the Ring, etc., etc. Not too mention the fact it contains my two most favorite parts in the the Lord of the Rings books. =)

favorite character from the books and why ; Eowyn is by far my most favorite character. She is very strong and independent, and she fights for what she loves and believes in. In this sense I think she is a lot like me, and I love when I can relate to a character. She goes through many hardships in the books and she is still always strong and she keeps her chin up. She loses her brother, she loses her uncle, she finds Aragorn does not love her, and yet she still remains strong. She fights for her uncle's life, all while in the face of grave danger, and that to me is the best part in the books/movies.

favorite scene from the books and why ; When Faramir inquires after Eowyn in the Houses of Healing. It was so romantic. I loved how they would walk around the garden and talk. I really loved how Faramir tells her he knows of her pain, but that he loves her and he would basically do anything for her. It was so beautifully sweet, and I'm so glad they ended up together. I loved how Eowyn asked why Faramir did not pick a fairer maiden instead of a wild sheildmaiden from the North and he replied that he loved her and no one else.

favorite quote from the books ; Chapter: The Steward and the King "And Eowyn looked at Faramir long and steadily; and Faramir said, 'Do not scorn pity that is the gift of a gentle heart, Eowyn! But I do not offer you my pity. For you are a lady high and valiant and have yourself won renown that shall not be forgotten; and you are a lady beautiful, I deem, beyond even the words of the Elven-tongue to tell. And I love you. Once I pitied your sorrow. But now, were you sorrowless, without fear or any lack, were you the blissful Queen of Gondor, still I would love you. Eowyn, do you not love me?'
... Then Faramir laughed merrily. 'That is well,' he said; 'for I am not a king. Yet I will wed with the White Lady of Rohan, if it be her will. And if she will, then let us cross the River and in happier days let us dwell in fair Ithilien and make a garden. All things will grow with joy there if the White Lady comes.'
... And he took her in his arms and kissed her under the sunlit sky, and he cared not that they stood high upon the wall in the sight of many."

favorite LOTR movie and why ; Return of the King. First of all, this movie contained all of my favorite parts. I love when Pippin sings for Denethor, when Eowyn defeats the Witch King, and at the very end when Sam saves Frodo. Not too mention the fact I cry like a baby every time I watch the end. (And I've seen the movie 47 times.) It's just so wonderful how the reocurring theme of friendship really shines throughout this movie. I think the most obvious example would be of Frodo and Sam while on the stairs of Cirith Ungol. Frodo tells Sam to go home, but guess who saves the day when Frodo is stung by Shelob? Only a true friend would do that. Friendship is a very important theme throughout both the books and movies, and it makes them so much more endearing.

favorite character from the movies and why ; Pippin. Sure, sometimes his actions aren't very intelligent, but he has the funniest things to say. But, at heart he's very brave. He fights alongside Gandalf and he saves Faramir, even though both Gandalf and Denethor told him to go away. He has a steadfast heart, and it really makes you love him. Oh, and who can forget the fact he has such a beautiful singing voice. But I guess singing is quite natural among hobbits. =)

favorite scene from the movies and why ; When Eowyn defeats the Witch King. When the Witch King says, "No man can defeat me." and Eowyn replies, "I am no man." I stood up and cheered for her in the theater. I felt so proud and astonished and amazed and I just wanted to cry for being so happy all at the same time. All I could think was, "POWER TO THE WOMEN!" I just loved how she says, "I am no man," pulls off her helmet, and proceeds to stab him in the face. Wonderfully amazing.

favorite quote from the movies ; In the Two Towers when Sam is cooking and talks about how he wants to eat some potatoes, and Gollum says, "What's taters, precious, eh, what's taters?" and Sam angrily, if not sarcasticly, replies, "PO-TA-TOES. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew." I burst out laughing. (This was also my favorite part in the TT book.)

what other books by J.R.R. Tolkien have you read? ; I read the Hobbit in fourth grade because one of my best friends (who was a guy) was reading it and told me about what was happening and I thought it sounded like a cool book so I asked my dad if we could go to Barnes and Noble to buy it. As a child he had been a big Lord of the Rings fan so naturally he took me to Barnes and Noble to pick up the Hobbit.

favorite piece from the soundtrack ; My favorite pieces are The Steward of Gondor, Into The West, and Concerning Hobbits. Billy Boyd has such a beautiful voice, he really does. And I love the words to The Steward of Gondor. The moment he sings the song, the words really fit what is happening. Into The West, I think, is a very pretty song. I love to listen to it at the end of Return of the King as the credits roll. Concerning Hobbits is just so.. well.. hobbit-like. To me, it just seems to fit their lifestyle. I don't really know how else to explain it because it doesn't seem like it can be put into words, but it just seems to fit their lifestyle.
