SO!

After the long wait... I saw it. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One.

Initial non-spoilery reaction:

Absolutely amazing. Onto the review!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is my favorite Harry Potter book. For many reasons. It was a fantastic conclusion to one of the best series of books I have ever read.

Now, the movie. If you know me, you know I usually nitpick and just all out hate on the movies.

I DO have some nitpicky things about this movie, but over all, I was IMPRESSED. I did notice that if you didn't read the books, you'd be quite lost. The movie moved really quick and they didn't fill in some of the backstory to some of the exposition. Much of the action was very rushed, while the more dialogue packed scenes were slower and more paced.

Like the other movies, you have various important chapters and scenes that are almost acted out WORD FOR WORD, then you have others, that are cut down, or changed completely or are completely new.

The beginning opens with the trio saying goodbye. Hermione wipes her parent's memories and makes herself disappear from their lives. This part almost had me BAWLING. Just watching her disappear from photos was heartbreaking. Hermione = <3.

The scene with the Dursley's was cut down ALOT. I was very upset that we didn't have that last little goodbye with Dudley and Harry, I LOVED that in the book. I did like the last look we got of Petunia though, that was interesting how they put that in there.

Next we have the epic Seven Potters scene. This was equally funny, actiony and OMG SAD!

I read something a while back that said, Hedwig was not going to die, that Harry sets her free and that was that. I was okay with this.

...THEY KILLED HEDWIG! She came back to help Harry and... and, it happened! I didn't expect it because apparently whatever I read LIED! *sniffle*

So, we of course have the cute scene with the twins and George being "holy" and a scene with Harry and Ginny.

Then the WEDDING! Which was beautiful till the Death Eaters had to go and ruin it.

Oh, Rufus Scrimgeour, he didn't look very lion-like, BUT he did a good job.

So the next scenes were QUICK, which is understandable cause the beginning of the book, is quite slow. The trio doesn't do much, they camp, they move, they plot and plan and move and camp again.

Before the camping, they learn about RAB and then attempt to infiltrate the Ministry. This scene I felt was very rushed, but it was still good. I LOVED Ron pretending to be Mr. Cattermole. So funny.

So the camping begins, they have the locket and we start seeing it's effects on our three characters. Mostly Ron. We see him slowly getting jealous of Harry and Hermione and the relationship he believes is forming between them.

The fight between Ron and Harry was heartbreaking just as it was in the book, I kept saying the line from the book in my head: "Something had broken between them" and I got the sniffles again.

Now a little while after Ron left, Harry and Hermione danced a little... it was an annoying little scene... BUT IT WAS SOOOO CUTE!!!!

So Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow... Dan did SUCH a great job at the graveyard. I was sad they didn't have the memorial... but he did see the house and reflect back on it.

Then we have creepy old Bathilda. *shudders* This scene was scary! I did jump when Nagini showed up, It was hard to imagine the old woman becoming the snake when reading and I think they did a good job with how they did it in the movie.

Next up we have the Silver Doe and Ron's return AND the destruction of the locket horcrux.

This scene played out beautifully! So close to the book, OMG and the shadows of Harry and Hermione from the locket! DUDE! OMG! *dies*

<3 Ron.

So yay, the trio is back together again and they go see Xenophilius. Once again, SUPERB casting.

This is where we hear the story of the three brothers. The way they did the story was so COOL! It was awesome. Beautifully done and a must see. I wont give anything about that away.

So the trio escapes and runs into some snatchers. They take them to Malfoy manor where Hermione gets tortured by Belatrix and Dobby comes to save the day.

This scene was great as well.

Then... Dobby's death. I'm getting teary just thinking about it. Oh... *sniffles* That was the part of the book where I just started crying and didn't stop till like two hours after I finished the book. His death was just HEARTBREAKING!

So the movie ends with Voldemort stealing the elder wand from Dumbledore's tomb.

AND NOW WE WAIT 8 MONTHS FOR PART TWO!!! *dies*

Over all I very very much enjoyed the movie and I look forward to amazingness with part 2.

Only took them 6 movies, but they finally got it right.

I give Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One a 10 on the Dork-o-Meter.

*happy sigh*

So that's that. Be on the look out for the second viewing review... where I get SUPER nitpicky!

GOODNIGHT!!
