Josh settles back in his chair, takes a long drag from his cigarette and doesn't check his watch. Ladies prerogative. Not that Kate was very late. A little late, perhaps. Fashionably late, definitely
( ... )
She crosses one leg over the other, Ian's linen trousers shifting to accomodate, and rests one forearm on the table as she leans in and looks at Josh through her bangs.
"Where did you learn your manners, Josh? Finishing school, or France?" Off his look, she continues, "It's the kiss that makes me ask; I can't imagine they let boys touch in finishing school. Leads to all sorts of decadence."
Josh lets out a loud snort of amusement. "Yeah, I can just see me in some fancy finishing school." He does a mental check of Kate's body language and wonders if Kate is seriously flirting with him, or just playing along. After the briefest of considerations, he is more than certain she is playing. Fine by him.
"Sadly, I've never been finished, it's a simply a case of being raised right." The waiter is weaving his way towards their table, beaming at Josh, who had flustered him into a good table on his arrival. "However, I do accept that a little decadence goes a long way." Josh gestures to the waiter, "Could we see the lunch menu?"
Turning to Kate, he gives his most charming smile, "Lunch is on me."
Kate thinks about saying, "Damn right it's on you," but it's the wrong attack. Not his fault he wants lunch.
She scans the menu and decides that it would be easiest to push a salad around on a plate for the sake of politeness.
She doesn't eat in front of others.
Without looking up from her menu, she says, "I can see why Dom is so keen on having you around. He does so love flattering company. It must get boring for you."
Red Snapper in Lemon Sauce, she reads, and says, "I hope the sex is worth it."
