"For Frodo..." (And The Aragorn Smackdown Commences)

Nov 01, 2005 03:51

STATS

Name: Kayleigh

Age: Nineteen

Sex: Female

Location: Ninety-five percent of the time: somewhere within the realm of my imagination. Five percent of the time: Northwestern Illinois.

Zodiac/Birth Sign: Libra (meaning I'm indecisive...sometimes...).

Height: Five feet, nine inches...or 1.75 metres for you metric-using lot.

Eyes: Expressive, dark forest green, with a Renaissance shape and aura to them (as noted by an artist friend of mine...I actually have no idea what that means exactly).

Hair (Color/Length): A simple brunette chin-length bob with shaggy, left-eye-covering fringe.

Hobbies: I write poetry and short fiction, I play the piano and the flute (for thirteen and eight years respectively), I watch movies religiously (drama's my genre, Wes Anderson my director, Johnny Depp my actor), I listen to music (sonatas to Green Day; jazz to A-Ha!), I blog obsessively, I paint randomly, I go antiquing, and I just lounge about, daydreaming about anything at all. Daydreaming keeps your mind active and your soul young--daydream every day!

Likes: Writing poetry and short fiction. Acting professionally in my community. Stargazing in the middle of a secluded field, so no artificial lights can obscure the glory that hangs above us. Rolling around in the leaves during autumn. Hell, autumn period--the best time to write, to stargaze, and to enjoy the natural beauty of nature. I saw a purple tree a couple of days ago--it took my breath away. And caused me to run a stop sign...but the tree was PURPLE. Guh, so gorgeous...

Dislikes: I hate it when intelligent people act more ignorant than they really are to "fit it". I hate, absolutely HATE grammatical errors, netspeak, or people who have no idea what a "period" or a "semi-colon" are, and where they go. I hate it when people patronize me. I hate feeling trapped, that I have no-where to go and that my freedom--personal or creative--is compromised. I hate people who only vote based on one issue, which is usually moral. I hate prejudice and bigots. Finally, I hate sauerkraut. It's disgusting.

Strong points: Hmm...well, I do my best not to be judgmental of others--which is fighting against human nature, I know--and therefore find myself to be an incredible listener. I am the psychologist of several of my close friends, so giving advice and being a shoulder to cry on would also be strong traits. I also have a cutting wit (from growing up watching British comedies, I assume), and have a very friendly soul--no matter what, I'm your friend.

Weaker points: I'm lazy, I tend to leave projects unfinished, I'm a humongous procrastinator, people cannot gain my trust very easily, I have a habit of getting myself into doomed relationships, and I'm very stubborn, opinionated, and a sore loser (sometimes--only in arguments).

TALENTS/SKILLS

What are some of your talents/skills? I have some skill in acting, in music (instrumental and vocal), I can write a mean poem now and again, and I am a Grade-A Bullshit artist. I believe that is my best skill--I can create a meaning for anything, describe events that never happened in a heartbeat, and invent theories at the drop of a hat. That's probably why I went to Sectionals in Impromptu Speaking my Senior year of high school--without that skill, that event is practically impossible.

What is your current occupation? (if still in school, just say so) I am a full-time student, with a part-time job at a local independent book store.

ONE OR THE OTHER

Impulse or thinking things through? Impulse.

Pride or humility? Humility.

Selfishness or selflessness? Selflessness.

Excitement or serenity? Serenity.

Pleasure or sacrifice? Pleasure.

Slow and steady or quick and complete? Quick and complete.

EXTRA

If you were part of The Company of the Ring, what 5 things would you bring on your journey? I would bring a weapon (bow and arrow over a sword or axe anyday), a warm traveling cloak, enough food that I could sustain my life along with another's, a walking stick that could pose as a quarterstaff if the situation called for it, and a journal, within I would write about our journey, recording it so that the generations after ours could be able to relive and learn from what we did.

Describe yourself in one word: Pensive.

Got any dreams or aspirations? I would put three aspirations, which are essentially things I want to do before I die: live in an apartment in Greenwich Villiage, like my Beatnik heroes did, and write some of the best things I have ever written; live in a cottage in the Irish countryside with a huge, overgrown, The Secret Garden-esque garden and raise a family; and get lost in France and not give a damn about it. If these three things happen, I will be able to die happily, confident in the knowledge that I did everything in life important to me--and that, my friends, is the definition of a full life.

What would you say is your motto? "I don't try to be Captain Weird. I just do what I do." --Johnny Depp. He said it better than I ever could.

Anything else?
"Sons of Gondor--of Rohan...my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. The day may come when the courage of Men fails; when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day--an hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the Age of Man comes crashing down--but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth--I bid you stand! Men of the West!"

From memory, I swear on it. That's how much I adore that speech--it made me want to jump from my seat and slaughter orcs for Frodo right then and there. Beautifully heartfelt...a movie moment to rival all movie moments.

My senior picture from over a year ago.

Me, as of September. The natural blonde was sacrificed for a play that I was recently involved in, The Cellar. However, I am sort of digging this look right now, and will probably stick with it for awhile. Until I get bored with it, anyway.

Cheers.
