I liked this, had a nice blend of the comfort/hurt and certainly realistic enough in the verbal interchange. I had thought however, that Billies Gran had died sometime before LOTR but hey, its fiction and so you can do as you wish. Works for me! Thanks for the good read.
Billy's grandmother turned 100 in 2001, according to the only source I could find in the matter. That source also made reference to her having died "sometime this last year". The closest thing I could find to a date for when that post was made was 2003, therefore I surmised that she had died sometime after mid-2003. Dom's grandmother, on the other hand, did die right around the beginning of filming. Shortly after Dom arrived, I believe, though I haven't done quite the same research on that as I did for Billy.
Thank you for your comment about the verbal interchange. That's always important to me. Thank you for reading, and I'm glad you enjoyed this!
Thank you very much, indeed, for this info! That makes this story very AU, indeed, and I shall file this tidbit away for future reference. I don't know why I couldn't find it anywhere that I looked, as I looked in a number of places. After I finish banging my head against my desk, I shall make the appropriate changes in the author's notes.
Aww. This was incredibly sweet. I liked all the Gaelic cursing as well. I'm going to have to write down the "Away to the house of the bitch!" one, I think.
Ah, the heart isn't always straight-forward, is it? Poor Bills, and Dom too, for that matter.
Your dialogue is so spot-on for these two, and something about cursing in Gaelic is wonderfully sexy, although it might lose a bit in the translation -
