I just wanted to get on here and apologise for the internet silence as of late. It upsets me that so much RL turmoil had to go on, over the weekend that the challenge was due to begin. But, unfortunately, that's how the universe works

I just have a question - what do the check ins mean? Like describe how the stories are going, what we've been writing, etc?

Basically, it's just to check that you're on track with your story. They're your plot is coming together and that you're on target to meet to word count and final deadline. It's a way for us all to stay connected and to know where everyone is at, as the challenge moves along.

I was wondering if you had any idea how long the Beta/Artists/Vidder/Buddy sing-ups will be open. I was thinking about it, but I'm going to be offline for the next two weeks and it would be just my luck to have them come and go while I'm away :p

Well, the post calling for Betas is already up. Once the others are up, they'll remain up until only a few weeks before the end of the challenge. There will be notices. But they will be open a lot longer than the writers post because they can be assigned well into the challenge.
