So if we're a writer and want a beta-reader, do we have to do anything yet, or do we wait until you've collected these sign-ups and then ask for one? (sorry if this is a stupid question, it's my first big bang, so be gentle with me ;) )

No, you don't have to do anything yet. Your biggest concern, is writing your masterpiece. Beta's won't really be a necessity to you, until the final stages of your story. Until then, don't worry about all this. (And don't worry, no question is stupid. This is the first bigbang for this fandom. So we kind of expecting that it'd be a first time experience across the board. You're not alone on that, trust me.)

(And I'm just jumping in where timeblind would answer, because I'm fairly sure she's asleep. )

OK. I feel like an idiot but I can't get into the filed to sign up as a beta reader. I have already been in contact with one of the authors and she and I have discussed that I wouild be her beta, but I cannot get this to work. Can anyone help me out here?

I have been in contact with Pristeneyungifted about being her beta for her Rahl/Cara fic. Through my job, I do a lot of prepartion of documents and reading. the documents of others and responding to them in writing. I am a fast reader, I know correct spelling, grammer and punctuation. My turn around time on work submitted to me would be less than 1 week in general. I can be faster if required. I have a lot of enthusiasm about this project and would really like to participate.

What pairings/genres you're willing to read? Darken/Cara, Darken/Kahlan, Richard/Kahlan. Pretty much anything with Darken except slash. Whatever genre!
What are your strengths/weaknesses as a beta reader? I'm an experienced writer, and I've done some beta reading too. I'm a bit of a procrastinator, though.
What kind of turn around time can someone expect from you? Mm, well. if they get it to me this month, then maybe a few days. Don't know after that, though.
