my advice is to take a couple of ibuprofen right after the novocaine wears off. the numbness is annoying, but i'd rather have it than the nonstop ache that fills its void. (unless your dentist prescribed something better). good luck and feel better soon.

I just might at that, I am no fan of nonstop aches. Thanks!

Be very careful about eating. When you're that numb, it's super easy to bite yourself in the lip/cheek/tongue and not even notice until later, and you don't need even more things to cause you pain.

Other than that, um, just wait. It will wear off, and then you probably will wish it hadn't :(

Yeah, I've had a few close calls with my tongue. Yikes. But anyway, I will definitely not be eating anything- I have some tomato soup in the kitchen I'll go for, though I'd really like my lip and tongue to regain sensation before I do.

Yikes, hopefully the numbness wears off with minimal inconvenience!

I once sat across the lunch table from a dental student who had been practicing with Novocaine in class. Lunch was soup. It was hilarious.

Matters have much improved, thanks.

We-ell, soup is indeed your friend in novocaine-related events.
