I say go and smack those men. I don't know why men have such a problem with women running the show. What do they think that we'll get hormonal and nuke a country or something? It pisses me off to no end when some men justify why women shouldn't be in high position offices. We are just as capable as the next men to do this job.

I'm going to stop my ranting! Congratulations on your first female PM. I'm sure she will face a lot of hurdles but she wouldn't have made it this far if she didn't have thick skin, right?

Wow, Sarah. I'm suddenly enraged. (Not a good way to start the work day.) I'd heard the Australian news (on the news) and was really excited that it had happened. I was hoping that it signaled a change of attitude. Aggravating for me to hear your "take" on many people's sexist, traditionalist views.

I sympathize with your frustrations. Canada's first female prime minister came to power just as one government was ending (and the male PM had just stepped down). It was basically a "oh, the ship's going down? Let's give the girl a turn at the rudder." It made me sick, actually, and I don't know why Ms. Campbell even accepted the post. Grrrrr... (I'll stop my rant now.)

Anyhow, I say get out there and yell about it. Tell those ingrates what you REALLY think, and give everyone hell. Honestly. If no one says it, then it's like it never even happened.

*cheers loudly from the back of the auditorium*
