I'm pretty sure, based on some stuff I read, that an article of clothing or the general design of that article of clothing cannot be copyrighted. It's pretty confusing, but I think that it's that there are a million ways to make a dress physically different, but a million harder ways to make a dress functionally different. heee actually you cant copright a clothing design. or a pattern (set of instructions/blueprints). but you CAN copyright a PATTERN...that is, a repeating design. but if you change it slightly you can still rip it off with no legal repercussions <3
unless of course like you say your design has function...then it's more of an invention and can be copyrighted maybe...i'm not sure XD
