I know someone who has red-green colorblindness, and the way he describes it is that, he can tell the difference between red and green, but they sometimes kinda flicker back and forth.
Ironically, he's also an art major and a fantastic colorist.

The internet suggests that they just see the red green, but I've heard the same thing from another red-green colorblind artist. Perhaps their red sensing cones are present but very poor functioning, while other red-green colorblind people just don't have them.
A lot of people don't know they are color blind, and I don't think all of them see red things flicker and assume everyone else does too.

Yeah, the guy I was referring to was RMG... he used to make colored pages for ES, and was supposed to start doing it officially, but... that never happened. >_>
I'm not entirely sure of the biology of the eye, but I seem to recall that red and green were fairly related. I could be wrong, though.
