I'm assuming that the reviewer hadn't actually read the book and figured Austen = spunky heroine not realising that they were describing one of the most passive

(Poor old misunderstood Fanny, though. I did an essay for Mansfield Park for uni and was amazed at the level of badly-concealed hate directed at her in critical lit circles. It was like fandom-level character bashing. o.O)
