Don't be silly! As I said, it isn't about the inattention of people I have a solid friendship with. Not that there really is any - if there's a flake in the room it's me.
Flake or busy or shy or elsewhere or whatever is not the same as simply not coming at friendship with the same level of ... you know, friend... as I do, for whatever perfectly reasonable reason.
This post and the other one are in no way a guilt trip. Anyone still on my flist is someone I feel like there's... mutuality with, even if it's total ships in the night.
Unconditional love is okay for children and animals, neither of which can necessarily understand the reciprocal nature of proper love. Children are expected to eventually become cognizant adults and figure it out.
Animals are entirely off the hook, and this is why people are capable of killing and eating them. We don't kill and eat animals that (at least appear to) reciprocate our affection.
