I'm very much an appreciator of Manzoni's work: the seeking after new forms and new expressions, his use of the line in an almost scultpural manner, the focus on the theoretical (rather than the object), his desire to gently subvert ("Revolution means overturning the hourglass: subversion is to smash the glass entirely" - Jean Dubuffet)...
i find it pretentious and redundant, perhaps even conceptually shallow. i like the quote, but think shitting in jars is too obvious, almost too convenient. to change the face of common structures of reality we need to delve into the emotional psyche and wrap ourself in all it's demons and angels (when wrapped in the intoxication of your own glittering shit, then you happen to be more accepting of others, even finding fascination in others). this in my definition is what makes good art, in all it's conceptual, abstract and surreal forms.
