Vanity - thy name is, lotusmoppet.

Met the utterly delightful Mrs. and Mr. Bex for brunch on Sunday - they're visiting the country. While they were truly wonderful and fun to meet, I was a mess. (Yes - yes, I was, and that's not self-deprecation, it's honesty ( Read more... )

I too am one of the vainest people I know - I was so proud of myself for having lost a whole lot of weight and when I just posted some recent pics I noticed how it's slowly crept back on. Ugh! Colds are generally horrible though, and everyone is allowed to look a little less than perfect when battling a snotty nose and drippy eyes! xx

Oh, but it wasn't even that (and I do have issues with mucus) - it was absolutely this cyst that won't go away. I tried to have it removed when I was a teenager and my doctor said it wouldn't be worth it.

What the hell did he know?

Will the current doctor remove it for you?

I haven't asked - I don't have the money and it really is just a vanity. So my face is a little round and even more so when I have a cold?

No big deal, right? Vanity's a sin, right?

You're not being vain. You sound pretty normal to me. :)

...and I bet you're just the cutest little chipmunk ever!

(and you know, by now, that that was a silly attempt to make you chuckle.

Awwww, I'm sorry if my post made you sad. It makes me sad too, but I try to remember the good things and take comfort in that. Every time I get sad thinking of the end, I try to flood my mind with all the good memories, and usually even end up laughing over some of it. You should try the same thing...try to flood your mind with positives when you start getting down. I know it's sometimes impossible, but it has been helping me.

Also, how could you possibly pull of a blank look in regards to Barack Obama? You're black, remember?? Obviously that means you know everything about him. He's practically your brother, if you know what I mean. ;)

Oh, don't feel bad - I needed to read that and mostly just felt terrible about not being around for you. Plus, she was such a love and you all obviously adored her to pieces. :)

On the Barak thing (oops, did I misspell his name? Hahahaha!) - exactly. :P

You looked lovely to me. It was fabulous meeting you my dear, please don't be so hard on yourself all the time, you are a great person to know and someone I am so glad I have finally met in real life.

Hiya! Hope you had a wonderful drive down and good trip back.

It's funny because I'm not usually self-conscious but any time that stupid cyst swells up I fall back into horribly old insecurities! No controlling them.

Thankfully I'm back to my normal self, and it was lovely meeting you two, too! *g*

I found my outfit that night and wore it to work the next day, instead of the work clothes I wore to meet you two, and my colleagues not only commented on my casual attire they teased me about it. I explained the whole story (didn't make them let up, though). *lol*
