Something's been dawning on me these last 18 months of mostly personal hell - nothing's worse than watching someone you love suffer, and knowing you can't do anything to make it better, regardless of whether your loved ones are two-legged or four-legged.

Yeah, it sucks, doesn't it? We can have all the desire in the world to make things better for someone, but sometimes we just can't and it's frustrating as all hell.
