The last year has been interesting, but in a good way.

On professional and personal levels I've been crafting my life into more of what I want it to be. Seeking out and emphasizing that which I want, pruning away those activities and people that detract.

I'm recently returned from a week in Sedona spent hiking the red hills and looking at art. This was a much-needed retreat from the densely populated flatlands in which I live.

I park under a tree.
In the morning a comet tail of golden leaves streams after my car.

I think that artists and musicians get a 25-year extension on sexy.  I recently was lucky enough to see Bruce Springsteen play a concert just days after he turned 60, and wow!  The man is a walking advertisement for jeans and given the way he was hanging onto the microphone stand, I think he may have been a pole dancer in a previous life.

I have a lot of patience for art.  Despite all of the pretentious conceptual pieces, self-proclaimed "subversive" installations, and simply bad performance art I've endured over the years, I still love going to galleries, festivals, and small productions.  The moments of awareness, insight, and beauty that art can inspire are worth seeing the " ( Read more... )
