The article regarding the senior class officers in the February 11, 2004 issue of The Smoke Signal was written according to one person's opinions. We understand that The Smoke Signal staff does not necessarily support the writer's viewpoints.

I usually tell people that class officer work is not that bad, but that's because it isn't... for us, since we love to do it. people don't see the dirty work that goes on behind the scenes, and that's kind of sad. and it IS a group effort. it is hard to unify/motivate a class that doesn't WANT to participate. we publicize the best we can through annoucnements, reading meetings, flyers or posters, and if they don't see all of that, then they have no one to blame but themselves.

we were talking about this in government class. Mr. larsen was saying he didn't understand why anyone would WANT to be on school board since all they get is crap from parents and teachers when things go wrong. i can see the downside of that, but then i also understand the sense of joy and accomplishment they feel after being responsible for the success of something great!

being an officer is so bittersweet, but i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. :)

there is always going to be constant scrutiny. i HATED that last year but the fact that you guys ARE officers says a lot. GO LAURA. i loved this entry bc I can relate it to so well

the public eye somehow seems to overlook the good deeds we do, but always manages to find the slightest flaws to pick at.

it's ok though. you and i know that we did a good job, or at least the best we could, even if others think differently!

thanks jasmine, i really appreciated how you stuck your neck out for us. i know it must have been hard arguing with debate-master gagan. we're probably going to post the response in econ classes because i doubt many people have gone to the website to read it. even though people will still overlook the article, it's a step in the right direction!

I honestly think that this year is our best officers out of all the years. I can actually see all the effort you guys put in and I don't know wth this person was talking about. You guys are doing an awesome job :)

wow thanks camellia. that statement meant a lot to me! thanks so much for always encouraging us through everything, from homecoming to fundraisers. the reason we serve the class is for people like you, who are supportive and appreciative. :) thank you, really.
