guess who doesn't have anyone to room with in Ashland. whooptydoo.

senior year = spending time with friends.
that's a bit difficult when your friends don't care to invite you to their wonderful shindigs, isn't it? of course, they could say, "but laura, you're always so busy!" or "i try but you can never hang out anyway." but aren't friends supposed to be understanding? aren't they the ones who (should) appreciate your company and take a few seconds to extend a friendly invitation?

perhaps this is their way of letting me know they would rather not hang out with me. do you not like the person i've become? if this is true, can you please tell me directly, instead of letting these bugs of uncertainty pick at my soul?

let me clarify. i do have aquaintances who are fun to hang out with and talk to, but i feel like i've lost my connection with the "group." these are the girls who are supposed to be my closest, most trusting friends--the ones i can depend on and turn to for almost anything.

this discovery occured the other night, when i was contemplating who i should call after a rather heated argument with my mother. after calling five of my "closest" friends, who all decided to not pick up their cell phones, i resorted to calling a mere acquaintance, who surprisingly came through when the others would not.

this is probably why jeff is my best friend. he always makes time for me and shows that he cares.
this is also probably why i need a boyfriend--reliability.
and of course, this is yet another reason why i'm not too fond of high school.
...
alright. so i'm done with that rant. i will now spend the next few months hanging out with my acquaintances, whom i can have fun with, and know that i shouldn't expect too much in return. they never seem to let me down.
...
you know, after going through these painful epiphanies, you come out more relieved. it's funny how that works. i guess it's because your expectations adjust to a more suitable, more realistic level.

on an unrelated topic, congratulations to victor lee for getting into USC's prestigious film and production program! you make me very proud. :)

oh yes, the Interact Celebration Cruise ROCKED!!! I had so much fun last night; moments like those will truly make me miss Interact.

Congratulations to all the Interactors in District 5170 (the largest Interact District in the world) for this wonderful accomplishment! Thanks for all your hard work.

We were able to raise $38,922 for Polio Plus! (and $50,000 in total for various other charities, like the Tsunami fund)

Mr. Cornelius, the Polio Plus erradication representative was so astonished; he thought we would raise only $3000. Now, when you look back on the years, you can tell your grandkids that YOU contributed to Rotary International's fight to erradicate polio from the world by 2005. because of YOU, future generations will never have to worry about this crippling disease ever again. how cool is that?!
