i think i'm going to write a letter to the company explaining what happened last night. seriously, they should train the servers better (or hire better servers, though usually they're fine at CSF) if they can't tell what kind of cheesecake they're serving to someone who's deathly allergic to an ingredient ( Read more... )

I think a letter is definitely in order, although I'll agree that usually Cheesecake Factory has decent servers. I've learned, however, if you're allergic to something and you think you see it in a dish, to say, "Is this ___, because I'm allergic to it" instead of simply, "Is this ___?" It gets their attention and makes them double check, instead of just the cursory glance that it seems you all got. Have had the same thing happen with coconut, which seems to garnish all sorts of random dishes, but thankfully I don't have nearly as bad a reaction as Asabi does.
