Today was my third day piano conducting Cabaret, and I have to say it has been an interesting experience! My drummer, who says he reads music but doesn't, tends to ignore any cues I give him, and instead counts HIMSELF off sometime vaguely after I turn around to see why he's not playing. I'm doing a cabaret tomorrow night on Sawtelle & Venice over in West LA. The performance was organized by friends of my friend Natalie, who plays Roberta in ZANNA DON'T, and I'm quite excited since I rarely get to sing these days outside of church gigs. Sometimes driving around L.A. on a weekday can show me the full gamut of "California Drivers." Just the other day I had a guy purposely speed up and change lanes after he saw me turn on to a street in front of him...so he could speed up until he was right behind me and lay on the horn. Really?
