Sooooo ... Janus is making a bit of a deal about telling my parents about us.

He's pretending like it isn't. But it is.

And I really fucking hate telling them stuff. They always lecture. And then they always ask for more information later, even if it doesn't exist

Why don't you just tell them? It can't be that hard, Fiona.

Telling them will probably be a pain in the ass, but given that the pain in the ass portion is inevitable and will be exacerbated by you waiting around to do it - just tell them. It will make Janus feel better too.

Besides which there is a limited amount they can do about it right now. You'll let them get used to the idea while you're outside of their supervision and make them feel reassured by your maturity in telling them. Win-win.
