So I hit a deer last night...
I'm fine. And my car is apparently undamaged.
The option package I picked when I bought the car paid for itself last night. It's the "safety" package, as I call it, because it has things like upgraded airbags, a Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system and... High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights! (It also has anti-lock brakes, but I think those are standard equipment.)
Because of the headlights, I was able to see the deer from far enough away to slow down to under 20mph. I would have missed it entirely if it hadn't turned around, like they do, and run INTO my car. The only external indication of the incident is a "clean" streak on the side, like you'd get if you brushed up against it.
