OH GOD I LOVE THIS!!!!! Especially how you wove book!Canon into it (which worked remarkably flawlessly, btw). I can just see it happening, things progressing thsi way, the entire fic was just so realistic.
There were allusions to Final Problem/Empty House where Watson believes Holmes to be dead (altho its for 3yrs in the books) and faints when Sherlock returns from the "dead" :)
The book canon was practically shouting in my ears while the credits rolled~ I do believe my fingers took control of the situation and I was utterly delighted to churn in the ideas of 'WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?':D
I can so imagine this happening in the show. John thinking Sherlock's dead and then him hugging him and all that when he reappears(then being embarassed about it later!).
Meming this.
P.S. Have you maybe thought about including this in the fanbook that's being made for Benedict? I'm sure he'd love it.
It was a pleasure dipping my toes into the pool that -with Doyle's aid of course- Moffat and Gatiss created~ People have been so kind about the stuff that I've posted, it's just been sending me over the moon and back again and again :D
I didn't know people were making a book for Benedict~ I'm all sorts of excited/flattered/tiny bit intimidated, at the thought -and really, thanks so much for the suggestion!- but wouldn't know how to begin going about it, is it on a particular comm that it's being done?
Thanks again a million times over, you've left me with a grin on my face that probably won't fade for days~

If you go to sherlockfanbook and find the "Letters/Writing" entry, you can leave a comment there with a link to this fic, asking if it could be included in the book.
I completely get it if you decide not to. Writing is after all a very personal thing but I'm strongly encouraging you to consider it as I think Benedict would like it.

Awww, you're very welcome! I do love making people happy.

Well written, this one.
He can compare the two insane, but brilliant men to warring archangels Lucifer and Michael
Nice turn of phrase.
tasting sand in his mouth from a storm he'd already survived back in the war Good image - it would make sense that being blown up would trigger a flashback for John if anything would.
like he's stuck at a terrible movie, or trapped on the couch with the telly on some crap police drama. The channel won't change and he can't get up Interesting simile. I like it.
LeStrade Typo...
The intense study of the floor, which was stricken from the record, is nicely done. :)
