my rusty brain is currently working on some kind of Philipp Lahm/Mario Gomez Thing so maybe that counts? even though it's not marrying Timo and all. (WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAALLLLL)
Nothing will ever be like 2006. That was a one time crazy summer for me.
Nowadays, there's more football than fandom - I mean, I'm still very much into it, obviously, in a very fannish, yet different way. More sports, less slash. And club only.
Oh my God, that's exactly the way I feel. I'm such a BVB stan nowadays, but slashing the guys? Naaah.
BTW, it's weird to read that Frings retired, then Balla had his good-bye match (with Frings on his team, AWWWW, last time the two played together on the pitch... *sniffles*), and then Metze retired, too, and Kelly will probably do it next year, too. Our OTPs...
2006 was teh crazy. But muchly excellent times were had, no? *winks*
Yeah, it's more a way of life, isn't it? It's not that I don't appreciate closeness between them - far from it, lol - but other than that, footie (the club) is way too much part of my life than to be fandom (only) - I can't really explain it any better, but I know you understand ;)
Oh yes, 2006 was wonderful. I once in a lifetime-summer, really :)))
All my nostalgia and feelings. Honestly, a lot of it brings me back to happier real times for me too - being confused and and just out of school (always just out of school - high school for 2006, undergrad for 2010, graduate for the CL final in 2012.) I am sadly still figuring my life out without footie as an outlet. :/ (I have other outlets but it is not the same.) I still love my clubs and NTs to pieces - my god, do I ever - but I feel so disconnected now.
And of course for me fanfic in this fandom is all tied up in my exploring gender identity and making sense of pansexuality, which is just...weird to think about. Not bad. Just weird.
