I didn't get in to it in my last post, but it is necessary to point out that while the Bible quotes I posted established that supporting the poor and rule by law are God's decrees, my thesis (which is that it follows that government programs that support the poor are also good) was what I consider a logical conclusion, and is not specifically

Honestly I think it stands that Popes need to quit telling government what to do. If they have grievences against government policy and the less fortunate, they need to do something about it and not rely on government to do so.

That's my "the government needs to get out of the business of what the church is charged to do" opinion. (See the entire Book of Acts for where the church took care of those in need, and did not demand that Herod or any other ruler do so).
