i am never getting up early again
....
yesterday, i was late by 15 minutes... 2 trams went straight past me without stopping because they were full of people....
so today, i got up earlier in order to leave earlier, and hopefully get to work on time, if not early... i went into the bathroom and put my towel etc in there, ready for a shower, and then popped into the toilet before my shower... cos let's face it, all that running water in the shower was only going to make me want to pee more... about 5 seconds after i'd closed the door on the toilet and sat down, i hear karlee dash up the stairs, into the bathroom and turn the shower on....
UMM HELLO??? I WAS CLEARLY NEXT IN LINE!!!! but no matter... i'll go and have my breakfast and pack my bag while she's in the shower... that way i'm not wasting my time.... in the end, the reshuffle of my routine didn't end up making that much of an impact on the time i planned to leave... so once i was all showered and dressed and ready to go, it was 8:15am, and a good 20 minutes earlier than the time i'd left the house yesterday....
as i walked to the tram stop, it started to rain and of course, my umbrella was at work... then, i waited twenty minutes before a tram finally arrived... already, there was no point in my getting up earlier today.... and in that 20 minutes where no trams came, nearly 30 people arrived @ the stop, waiting to get to work... so when the tram finally arrived, it was already completely full and only 3 of the 30 people actually made it onto the tram.... i was one of the three that pushed their way through...
i had resigned myself to not getting a seat, as i do most days... and when the tram is full, the driver often refuses to start the tram again until all the passengers clear the stairs... but when it's so damn full, it's really hard to clear the stairs... today was one of those days.... with the driver staying at each stop for an extra 30 seconds, this added another 10 minutes to our journey...
then, i got stood on... not once, not twice, but three times, and each time by the SAME WOMAN IN HEELS... do you think she apologised??? NO WAY... and as she was getting off the tram, i gave her a bit of a shove and a really dirty look... she just swished her hair over her shoulder, looked down her nose @ me and strutted off....
so then i get off my first tram and wait for my second tram, the one that goes up swanston st and takes me the rest of the way to work... usually i don't have to wait for the second tram as there is generally always one there waiting to leave the platform... not today... i had to wait another 4 minutes... by this time, it's well after 9am, and i should already be @ work...
the tram up swanston street usually takes me within one block of my work, so i only have to walk about another 5 minutes once i get off the tram... this morning, one of the trams had broken down... when a tram breaks down, it stops and can't move and therefore, has a domino effect, stopping every single tram behind it, until a towing vehicle can come along and remove the first, broken down tram... by the time the domino effect hit our tram, we were only half way up swanston st, and only half way to work... i had to walk 5 blocks in pissing down rain....
so now i'm wet, and cranky, and half an hour late....
i have resolved to never get up early again....
