[Ami was working her way along the hall, sliding her hand over the red walls to keep her balance. The collar was tight, not enough to strangle yet, but the golden star at the front was getting painful as it pressed to the skin. She was taking the threat seriously, looking for a familiar face before it got any worse.

When she saw Amelia, she froze. That face was familiar, but it took her a moment to place it. Silver Millennium, Seyruun, potent feelings rushed into her mind, but it was like remembering a very good dream. More importantly, as she got closer, she could see the tears.]

... Amelia?

[Her head quickly turned to look up in the direction her voice was called. She was quick to force back the oncoming tears, trying to calm herself as she looked at the other girl properly.]

[Her memories were a little hazy, but she knew she had seen that face before. There was something there that tugged at her heartstrings, though she didn't have time to dwell on it, instead acknowledging the person before her.]

Oh, hi.

[Ami felt her heart skip a beat, looking to the other girl with curiosity and concern. Though their collars looked different she recognized the way it was pressing to the skin. She stepped closer, reaching to wipe away some of the tears from Amelia's cheek. It just felt like the right thing to do.]

Hello. You got the same note, didn't you? [A note which she holds up, explaining the collar's purpose and solution.]

[Her breath hitched when that thumb touched her cheek, shivering, somehow feeling comfortable enough not to pull away on instinct. Any more musing was soon forgotten as she saw the note in Ami's hand. Swallowing, she nodded, biting her lip.]

I have to admit this place doesn't fail to surprise people. [She tried to shake off her distress, but her voice was already choking as she held back a sob.]

[Ami couldn't fully explain where her feelings were coming from. Memories of that encounter were seeping into her mind, but the whole picture wasn't there yet. Her face was solemn, eyes trained on Amelia.]

No, as much as I've gotten used to things it always finds something. [She steps forward as if on instinct and wraps her arms around the girl, hoping to give her a small sense of comfort.] It's in those times we can draw strength from our friends, to stick together and overcome any obstacle.

[The princess could feel that gaze burning into her, but not feeling uneasy at all. It was almost like she was granted peace of mind with that stare, something familiar and warm. No doubt that was what drew her to return the embrace gently, letting herself relax before pulling back to look at the her curiously. Something was nagging at the back of her mind; this girl was more than a friend, she knew that, and wanted to figure out more about her.]

Does...the name Mercury mean anything to you? [This was hardly the time for trivial questions, but Amelia felt she had to know, that it was important somehow. Besides, her concience would not allow her to just start making demands of the other girl, even with her life in the balance.]

[Ami blinked and watch Amelia's face, trying to sort out if they were truly remember the same things. Those brief flashes of memory felt so warm and inviting, she couldn't help but let her mind wander a little. But the collar around her neck forced her back into the here and now, the metallic star at its front pressing against the skin of her neck. She tried not to wince, but didn't pull it off well.]

It does. [Whether it was good time or not, she couldn't ignore the way she felt. Nor did she feel she could keep a secret from the dark-haired girl.] It was my name... long ago, and... I will show you, once we're no longer in danger. We should tend to these collars before they get any worse.

[Amelia's features still showed how hard she was trying piece things together from the snippets of memories within her mind. She could recalled long conversations, tear stained parchment, the light of the moon shining from above, and the unmistakable recollection of another soft body beside her own. The last part made the healer more than a bit flustered, turning her head away to calm down the pink tint in her cheeks.]

[However, seeing Ami wince derailed anymore questions she wanted to ask on noting that she did know what she was talking about. Her own collar tightened as well, her breath shaky as she replied.] You're right. Do you know any place close by we can go?

[The feelings Ami got from the memories were all good, though a little sad. They meant something, something important, and she wanted to know what it was but if she died it wouldn't matter. She couldn't let that happen, and she couldn't let it happen to Amelia, either. Even without the memories she refused to let someone else suffer if she could prevent it.]

My room isn't far, just off the elevator... [She eased back, fingers brushing Amelia's cheek. It felt so familiar, so right. Ami reached down to take the princess' hand and lead her to the elevator.] It'll give us a few minutes to talk, too.

[Amelia had no wish for her life to end either. Despite how many times she had put herself at risk, she always believed things would work out. The two times which the collar had reminded her of were not pleasant ones, because death had been so close. Crying wouldn't fix this, she'd fight this and help the other girl too.]

Alright. [She shivered at the touch to her face, her fingers twining with Ami's of their own accord, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. She could only nod at the moment in reply, letting herself be lead away silently.]

[Once an elevator arrived, Ami guided them both inside and pressed the numbers for her floor, then leaned her back against the wall to stand beside Amelia. She gave the girl's hand a gentle squeeze, turning to face her with the best smile she could muster.]

How do you know that name? [She reached up, touching the star on her collar.] The symbol inside this star stands for the planet Mercury, but I suspect that's not how you got it.

[Squeezing her hand in return, she glanced over at the other girl, her free hand running through her hair as she struggled to place exactly where in her memories the name had come from.]

I knew someone called that, a girl...who looked like you. [Biting her lip, she sighed deeply.] We were close, more than close. I don't know how or when, but I was at home, and somehow, I ended up having to sever ties with her, and it...well it broke my heart to do it.

[Ami listened carefully, the bits and pieces of her own memories forming neatly around the bits Amelia gave her. So they had experienced the same thing, but from Ami's perspective it had been her home, her past even if the existence of a kingdom called Seyruun didn't fully line up.]

I remember receiving a letter, but I couldn't accept it. I had to talk to the girl who had sent it... that girl was you, wasn't it? Princess Amelia of Seyruun... [Red stained her cheeks, her heart beating ever faster in her chest. If not for the doors of the elevator opening, she might have remained motionless indefinitely.] Long ago, in another lifetime... I was... [She shook her head.] I am Mercury.

[Ami began to back slowly out of the elevator, into one of the undersea hotel hallways. Behind her is a prominent metal door, which Ami is leading toward.]

[It almost had been as if their two worlds had collided together for a brief moment in time, as Amelia was sure she had been unaware of any folklore about a kingdom on the moon before that time. Regardless, the memories were very real, that was what counted. The heartbreak was not something she imagined.]

That's right. It's odd though. I mean it was a past life for you, but I'm still the same. [Despite the muddled logic, the princess stroked the other girl's fingers with her own, hoping to soothe her a little. She was so busy doing so she barely paid attention to where she was, this part of the hotel being unfamiliar to her. However, she was far too focused on her former lover. She was coherant enough to ask one important thing.]

Then...should I still call you Mercury still? Or would you prefer your new name?

[In all honestly it wasn't the first time Ami remembered scenes from her past life, though never had they been mixed with elements of another world. A few times she'd found herself in the immense library on the moon, and once in the gardens overlooking the stars setting over horizon.]

There are many odd things about this place. Sometimes it's best not to think too hard on it. [Her fingers reached out to caress Amelia's cheek, finding the act very familiar and pleasing. Once to the door, Ami turned away only long enough to unlock it, and guided Amelia inside.]

[Inside the room was spacious, like a large apartment with a visible loft above at the far end. That was where her bed sat, along with several bookshelves. The rest of the room was decorated in deep blues and red, accented by brass fixtures; a very nautical, and somewhat Victorian inspired motif. Above was a glass dome looking up into the ocean.]

You may call me Ami... u-unless... you prefer Mercury.

[Despite the fact that it had all been no more than an elaborate illusion of her home world, the included elements of Ami's past hadn't been out of place. It had fit together quite naturally, perfectly, much like the other girl had fit against her form so well as they had laid together. Of course she tried to dispell the thoughts quickly, not wanting to show how easily flustered she was getting.]

I suppose not. It was very real though. [Her hand moved of it's own accord, placing itself over the one on her face. The princess smiled softly, taking a moment to admire the apartment as they entered, though she found her eyes could not leave the other girl for too long.]

[She paused, thinking a moment before sliding her arms around Ami, pressing a kiss to a spot on her neck she recalled was rather sensitive, whispering softly.] Whatever you're more comfortable with. Either way, you're still that wonderful person I remember.
