[Wherever you are Spain, one of your newest military recruits is currently trying to find you with a very important message to deliver. Well, important in that his superior told him to give it to you and to be quick about it.

After inquiring with several other officers along the way, one finally knows where you are and points Nari in the right direction. Concerned that he's taken too long already with what is probably a very casual note, he decides to jog the rest of the distance, his long legs carrying him quickly.

And if the movement just so happens to make him appear disheveled, it suits his overall image.]

[Spain is at his grand mansion in Seville, awaiting news from the Casa de Contratación. His ships are due to sail for Manila in a few days, all that is missing is the go signal. Spain has been taught that he should have patience for such proceedings but that doesn't mean that he's taken such lessons to heart]

[He's missed the sea and he can't wait to go and see his little Maria, Las Islas Filipinas, and of course the treasure that surely awaits him at her port]

[With a last push of effort, Nari climbs the steps that bring him to the mansion doors where he knocks and tries to catch his breath. When the door is opened by a servant, Nari gets maybe three words of explanation out before he's gesturing with the letter haplessly to try and explain why he's there and that he's completely breathless. If the servant thinks anything of his explanation, nothing is said save for gesturing him to come in and try to keep up as he escorts him to where Spain is waiting.

Along the way, it doesn't dawn on Nari that he's about to meet his country until he's there with the doorman approaching Spain to inform him of his visitor.

Nervous does not even begin.]

[Spain looks over his shoulder when his attention is called, diverting his attention from the view before him of the inland port. His ships are there, docked and waiting. He knows he shouldn't keep on watching them lest he gets even more impatient, but he just can't help himself. He's really eager to be off. There's danger out there for him, certainly, pirates and England himself just waiting to attack him, but of course a part of him enjoys these dangers. He is a Nation used to battle and he can't quite imagine a life where he doesn't take up his sword or his halberd to protect and secure what is his]

[He hardly registers the messenger at first, far too focused on the letter he bears. At last, he turns away from the window and comes forward, one gloved hand outstretched for the missive]

Damelo. Pronto.

[Give it to me. Quickly]

[Nari means to speak the common phrase in this instance, something like "yes sir" or the like, but the words get stuck in his throat. Instead, he numbly holds out the envelope sealed with wax and stamp, noting his thumb has creased the corner he was holding it by. The message delivered and his hands free, the soldier then goes about trying to subtly fix his rumpled jacket and making his appearance neater, to no avail.

After giving Spain a moment to read the message, in a quiet voice he hesitantly asks,] Is there a return message, sir?

[Emerald green eyes switch up at the sound of the voice. Those eyes look steadily back at the speaker. Spain doesn't recall seeing this soldier before. He must be new. His gaze slowly drifts over the messenger, taking in his messed up hair, the sloppy uniform]

[The Empire's voice is low, almost caressing when he speaks. If the new recruit is smart, he will pick up the hint of danger in that tone]

I don't recall giving you permission to speak...

[The words alone imply Nari has committed a faux pas, which makes him flustered on the inside. Like a bumbling new recruit, he thinks the best solution is to talk more, to try and explain himself in the hopes that Spain will feel appeased once he understands. He has yet to register the fact that commanding officers don't want explanations, they just want complete obedience.]

I'm sorry, I just wanted to know if you needed me for anything else. ... sir. [Wait, how is he supposed to address Spain again? Wasn't there a proper title for him? He'll have to ask his captain when he gets back.]

[And he continues on talking. It actually amuses Spain a little. These new recruits, they can be so infuriating and yet so cute in their eagerness to please. And this one isn't bad looking either. Now if only he gives more attention to his appearance. Spain himself isn't that invested in his own appearance, if his long hair pulled back in a ponytail is any indication, but he does appreciate it when his men in uniform take the time to attire themselves well. Especially in the face of important people]

[He glances to the servant who brought the soldier in] Leave us.

[As the doorman sees himself out, soundlessly closing the door behind him, Nari straightens a little feeling even more nervous. If Spain wants them to be left alone, he can only assume it's because the man has something extremely important to say to him that requires the utmost secrecy. New recruit or not, he's still very patriotic and determined to serve the empire as best he can.

If Spain's got one thing down about him, it's that, yes, he is so very eager to please.]

Sorry for being so slow

[Spain stands before the new recruit. He's not as tall as the young man before him, perhaps he even looks younger, but there's just something about him that makes him look taller, more larger than life. Perhaps it's the way he carries himself with that confidence bordering on arrogance. Maybe it's that energetic spark in his emerald green eyes. He's a powerful and influential Empire and he knows it. People who don't know who he really is are baffled as to why they are inclined to give seemingly undue deference to this mysterious young man, known only as Don Antonio Fernandez Carriedo, who is always by the King's side. Those who know don't question it]

I believe you know who I am. [At that, the Empire smiles a little] But I'd like to know you.

No problem! Good things are worth waiting for. :)

[Nari certainly doesn't feel big before Spain, he feels awkward and uncertain and really, really rumpled.

As he stands ramrod straight before the man, hands at his sides and gaze politely straight ahead (though at times flickering towards Spain by accident) he answers in what he hopes is a composed voice. (But in truth it probably reveals exactly how nervous he really is.]

Yes, of course! [herp herp] I'm Nari- er- Ashnari, and I'm new. ... to the military, I mean. Sir. [/sob, why is he so socially awkward?]

Aha, okay ^_^; Is Nari an OC? I'm sorry I don't know ;~;

I can see that. [And Ashnari can take that how he wants. Meanwhile, Spain has taken to circling the new recruit. It's not really to take him in from all angles though it may look like that]

Ashnari. [Spain tries out the name, his tongue gently rolling the "r"] What a unique name you have. Where are you from exactly?

He is, his first thread in anything TLH related!

[Nari's eyes might follow Spain on his first circle of him before he remembers he's supposed to stay still for inspection. (Because that's clearly what this is, yes?) When he points out the oddity of his name, Nari can't help but give a sheepish expression. It's a phrase he's heard often in his young life, and doubtless he'll hear it for many more years to come.]

The countryside, sir. My mother wanted me to have a unique name so that if I ever became famous, everyone would remember it.

[And that explanation makes him smile and pause before Ashnari, meeting his gaze with his own. The smile is warm, almost fond. Spain has always thought that family is important]

Then you'll do well to do your best in the service of the Empire, Ashnari.
