Once I figured out how to do the mechanics of it, it went surprisingly fast. The biggest time saver was the hole punch template. I didn't have to worry about the exact placement of every punch in the line because it was already laid out.
My "template" was the outside piece of an old, cheesy wallet craft kit. It had pre-punched holes along the edge for lacing it together. As long as I didn't zone out and punch past my guide lines, it worked really fast.
