Nirvana was the first grunge band...Kurt invented the sound! Pearl Jam came around after Nirvana.

kurt didnt even call it grunge. to him, he was just playing punk rock. the media came up with the word grunge and slapped it onto every band that came outta seattle after that for the next few years...
