my dad and my self picked berries with efficiency yesterday, using big cutting instruments and rubber gloves and buckets.
i said: "around this time, early man began utilizing simple tools and task assignment to improve gathering efficiency. he worked in groups, as he had not done before."

lol, I like that. Family relations sure are interesting and important -- not to mention a critical element in the sustaining of group efforts and the sense of belonging. Good for you guys for doing that.
